Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed
Muhammad was awarded the Nishan-e-Haider, Pakistan's highest military award. In 1958, he was posted to East Pakistan as the Company Commander of a battalion of East Pakistan Rifles (a para military force for border security). During his command, Indian troops captured a village in the area of Lakshmipur of East Pakistan. On August 7, 1958 Major Tufail launched an assault to force withdrawal of Indian troops from the village. His groups were able to reach the enemy without being detected but as the firefight started, the group came under heavy fire and he received three bullets in his stomach. Despite being shot, he kept moving, by using grenades, he was able to destroy key enemy posts. He crawled towards enemy post and engaged them in hand-to-hand battle which resulted in the killing of Indian Army Commander. He continued the operation which resulted in the withdrawal of Indian forces. He was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries. He was buried with military honors in his native city Burewala.

Waqar Younis
Waqar Younis was born in Burewala, Vehari District. He is a former cricketer, cricket coach and commentator who captained Pakistan National Cricket Team. A right-arm fast bowler, Waqar Younis is regarded as one of the greatest bowlers to have played the game.

Lieutenant Abdul Moeed
Abdul Moeed was a brave son of District Vehari. He completed his early education here in Vehari and joined Pakistan Army as Commissioned Officer. He was martyred on December 14, 2017 at the age of just 21 years during an operation against TTP.

Colonel Sohail Abid Shaheed
Colonel Sohail was martyred in an attack against terrorists in Quetta. Two well-known terrorists of Taliban were killed on the spot and one was arrested by the cops. Colonel Sohail was hit by bullets in his chest which caused his death. He was the third of his family who was martyred. The District Administration has named Khanewal Chowk as Colonel Sohail Abid Chowk on the public demand.

Saleem Sherwani is a former Field Hockey Goalkeeper from Vehari. He played in Pakistan Men's National Hockey Team. He won the silver medal at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany and bronze medal in 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Waseem Ahmad
Waseem Ahmad born on April 10, 1977, in Vehari. He is a Pakistani Field Hockey player and former captain of Pakistan Hockey Team. He is considered as one of the best left-halves in the world, and became the most capped midfielder and most capped player for Pakistan. After announcing his retirement from International Hockey during a press conference held after Pakistan-India third-place match of 26th Champions Trophy in Lahore, former Pakistan captain Waseem Ahmad later staged a comeback in 2006 for World Cup and retired immediately after Pakistan Team Campaign in London Olympics 2012.

Shazia Parveen
Shazia Parveen from Vehari is the first female firefighter in Pakistan. Parveen lives in Karampur (a town in Vehari). She joined the Rescue Service in 2010. She was trained at Punjab Emergency Services, Lahore and she was the only woman who completed the training.

Adil Ayub Mayo
Adil Ayub Mayo Shaheed was a brave, young and dutiful son of Chak No. 97WB, District Vehari. He served in Pakistan Coast Guards. On January 9, 2025 while his duty at Karachi Super Highway, he thwarted a suspected terrorist attack and earned the esteemed honor of martyrdom at the tender age of 22.
